Attendance
Attendance Information:
Steps to take when your child is absent:
- Contact school in the morning before 9:20am of the first day of absence. You can call the office on 0151 522 3900 or email the office; attendance@gilbrook.wirral.sch.uk with a valid reason and a possible return date.
- Every day that your child is absent, please contact the office as above to keep us updated.
- If you are taking your child to medical appointments, we would need to see a copy of the appointment letter.
- If you wish to take your child away on holiday in term time, you need to pick up a leave of absence form from the school office. The Head Teacher has final say on permission to leave school in term time. Please understand that requests for leave of absence may not be authorised.
If school attendance is becoming an issue:
- Please contact our Family Liaison Officer, Jo Murphy, in the first instance.
- We are here to support you and your family.
- We have a duty of care to know where our pupils are at all times.
- You have a legal obligation to ensure your child is attending school and accessing an education.
- If we have no contact from parents/carers of pupils with low attendance, we refer to the Local Attendance Officer within Wirral Council.
