Wirral Foodbank and Emergency Food Hub

The Aspire Schools Federation, including Kilgarth and Gilbrook,  works with the Feeding Birkenhead organisation and we update links  as soon as we have them.

New Centre Opening:

The Feeding Birkenhead organisation is also involved in Number 7, a not for profit Citizens Supermarket, Cafe & Advice Hub.

Its aim is to help low-income people whose circumstances may be pushing them towards food poverty. The citizens supermarket is stocked with surplus stock from bigger retailers we aim to be at least a third cheaper and in most case’s even more and is membership based only.

Membership gains you access to the supermarket and 50% off in the cafe before 11:30am every day. To gain membership the following criteria needs to be met:

  • Single person household to have an income of less than £1066 per month
  • Couples / family household to have an income of less than £1666 per month

If you meet the criteria please come along to our membership day on Saturday each week, with:

  • Proof of ID (passport, driving license, birth certificate, bank card & bus passes excepted)
  • Proof of all income for the household (wage slips, benefit entitlement letters, bank statements etc)

On the day, membership will be completed in full as long as all evidence is provided, and a membership card will be issued.

Wirral Emergency Food Hub and  Infobank

Wirral Emergency Food Hub has gone live.  Residents experiencing difficulties in accessing food can visit www.wirral.gov.uk/foodhelp to submit their details online using a simple form or call the Wirral Coronavirus Helpline (0151 666 5050, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm). Please use the online referral form wherever possible.

Residents are also encouraged to use the Infobank by visiting www.wirralinfobank.co.uk for details of shopping and delivery services provided by community groups in their local area. The Infobank has an easy to-use search facility which shows what help is available, simply by inserting a postcode. The Infobank also has a list of social supermarkets in Wirral.
